About

I was born and raised in the Sonoran Desert, which is also the home of the Tohono O’odham, Pascua Yaqui, and Hohokam peoples. I then had the good fortune to live for over a decade surrounded by the lush abundance of the Pacific Northwest on the lands of the Stillaguamish, Suquamish, and Snohomish peoples.

My spouse and I relocated to the best of the five boroughs–Brooklyn–so I could study medieval British literature. During our time in NYC, we worked, studied, and lived on lands that were the home of the Canarsie and Muncee Lenape peoples. We now live across the Hudson–still on the land of the Muncee Lenape people–and are household staff to our two cats.

I’m a fountain pen and hat fanatic and a graduate of the first-ever Golden Crown Literary Society Writing Academy program. I’m also a Jill-of-all-trades. I’ve worked customer service jobs in the retail sector. I’ve also been employed as a summer laborer in the mining industry; a project manager; a writing instructor; a freelance writer and editor; and a library assistant. I currently work as a tech-support staffer for a small software company.

My writings tend to be categorized as spec-fic, usually fantasy. But I’ve dabbled a bit with the soft sci-fi, romance, and mystery genres. And, I’m toying with the idea of trying my hand at horror.

When I’m not working, writing, or reading, you can find me gaming in some capacity. I’m HueMora at 4thewords (referral code: SDXHJ16997) and Ruth Simon#6577 on Discord.

I’m also an affiliate for Literature & Latte’s Scrivener: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener-affiliate.html?fpr=ruth38

I do not have patience for bigotry or willful ignorance. But, I’m always willing to respectfully, thoughtfully discuss hard topics. Please grab a seat and chat awhile.
